Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing

Maybe you’ve heard of EMDR but don’t really have a clear understanding of what it is or how it works in the brain. Maybe you’ve even pretty much chalked it up to being the equivalent of some strange magic.

Well, you’re not alone! EMDR can be a really effective tool to help reprocess trauma but that doesn’t mean it’s a magic pill. EMDR has been extensively researched and found to be an evidence-based form of therapy, effective for treating trauma, anxiety, and many other symptoms.

Check out this video from the EMDR International Association to learn more about what it is and how it can help. Your therapist will also go over the EMDR process in more detail when you meet for your sessions.
