Clinical Social Worker

(she/her/hers)

Sometimes we have experiences that overwhelm our natural abilities to cope with life as we know it.  We can get disoriented, disconnected, dysregulated. Depending on how intense the experience is, we can feel a general loss of safety, loss of trust in others, loss of our usual functioning and even a loss of our sense of self-worth. When traumatic or invalidating experiences are a regular part of our lives, we develop ways of coping that are effective for our survival but may get in the way of living a truly fulfilling life.

I specialize in helping people gain a new sense of those things that are lost during experiences of acute or prolonged trauma experiences. I enjoy helping people learn new skills to build a life worth living. Working together, we can find ways to develop healthier, more balanced and satisfying relationships with others and with ourselves.

I graduated from the University of Michigan with a Master’s Degree in Social Work, focusing on mental health. I also have a Master’s Degree in Counseling from Oakland University focusing on career development. As a lifelong learner, I have trained in a variety of trauma recovery modalities, such as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Prolonged Exposure Therapy, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and EMDR. I find that using the wisdom from each approach enriches my overall ability to provide effective therapy that addresses the different dimensions that are disrupted by trauma, including how we think, how we feel, how we process memories, how we relate to others and how we relate to ourselves.
